September 10, 2026 -- Novi, MI The EGR Girls' Field Hockey Team traveled to Novi on a cooler Thursday evening for a tilt against the Wildcats. It was a frantic finish, but ended with the Pioneers coming out on top with a 1-0 victory. The lone goal was scored early in the 3rd quarter when Senior co-Captain Peyton Astrauskas ('27) made a long run on the right hand side and after turning the corner along the baseline, slotted a pass onto Katie Hannah's ('29) curl to slid home the goal in the far left corner. The team played a solid all around game with a cohesive defensive effort from senior Carly Conway ('27), senior co-Captain Avery Albers ('27) and Maddy Frendt ('29). There staunch wall led to multiple transitions to the offensive opportunities for attacking Novi's left side defense by Astrauskas, Toccoa Lepley ('29) and Tess Bombery ('28). Valuable minutes came from midfielder Evie Paul ('28) who stopped the Wildcats from attacking the EGR left side. Izzy Hunt ('29) stood tall in goal, helping to direct the defense, and when tested, clearing her area to shut down any Novi threats. Next game is Monday, September 14 at home on Mehney Field against OK Conference foe Hudsonville. This rematch will be critical in solidifying the Pioneers position atop the Conference table.
