October 07, 2026 -- GRAND RAPIDS, MI The EGR Girls Field Hockey program took time out from the preparations for the final match of the season on Thursday, October 8, 2026 against Forest Hill United with the traditional end-of-season visit to Robinette's Orchard. The hot apple cider and apple cider donuts were a welcome treat in the beautiful sunshine of a 70 degree day. With the time for fellowship amongst the players as girls from all ages circulated from table to table, the camaraderie is evident between them. The big sisters (biological and program designated) shared moments with each other as they took photos in front of the large Macintosh in Robinette's courtyard. Others chose to relax in the oversized Adirondack reminiscing about the season and looking forward to the next few weeks. It was a time for the coaches to talk with the girls about the hopes for their continued growth outside of the season, the plan for celebrating the Seniors on Thursday in their final regular season home match, and announce the call-ups for the playoff practices and games that start on Friday, October 9. Senior Bonita Aseyo ('27), who elected to pick up this wonderful sport in her season year, will join the Varsity so that she too can experience the playoff atmosphere. Additionally, Amelia "Mimi" Devers ('30), Evie Mellema ('30) and Katherine Wendling ('30) will also join the team for the next few weeks of practice and be on the bench with the team during the playoff games. On to Senior Night and working hard to carry the program as far as they can go in this year's playoffs. GO EAST!!
