Aug. 23-- Lady Pioneers Repel Invasion of EGR by Grosse Pointe North Field Hockey On an overcast Saturday morning that portended of rain, the deluge came from the Lady Pioneers as they flooded the goal of the GPN Norsemen. The final result of 7-0 speaks to the ability of the EGR team to get contributions from every position. This game's primary contributors had quite an international flavor. Mayi Prado ('26), an exchange student from Spain, tallied her first two goals with some spicy hits from the middle of the circle. She also tallied an assist on a late goal by Addi Storrs ('26). The goal by Storrs was her third knock of the season. The Senior forward who has had a solid start to the season. Storrs also added an assist on the final goal of the game. Lotte Postma ('26), an exchange student from the Netherlands, contributed to the scoring by providing her teammates solid scoring opportunities. She tallied two assists on the day, one to her host sister, Camilla Volovlek ('28). Volovlek is seeking to repeat her Freshman campaign when she tallied 9 goals over the course of the season. Against GPN she slid home two goals with help from her teammates (an assist from Postma, and also a set-up from Payton Astrauskas ('27)) the second coming with just seconds remaining in the first half. In addition to her assist, Astrauskas also tallied the final goal of the match with a drive off of a set piece offensive penalty corner. The remaining goal was scored by Freshman Toccoa Lepley ('29), who took the feed from Postma and netted the ball with a shot to the corner of the opponent's cage. This game served as an opportunity for the Lady Pioneers to get their bearings on who fits where in this puzzle as the picture of this season comes into view. From the initial look, it seems that there are many pieces who will impact the success of this season.
